JULIE LEGGETT ART
JULIE LEGGETT ART
This autumn and winter I will be spending time for me and working on more beautiful pieces of art and textiles. My next art events and trails will be updated on my events page in 2023. I will however be attending two events with my co business 'Needwood Tree' Emporium and will be trading at the end of October in Whitby for the Goth Festival. Another annual event I attend is the Artisans and Reenactors Market in Warwickshire in November. Full details of these two events are on the events page. I may take a little associated art to those events, time permitting. I look forward to seeing you all soon

I live in the beautiful village of Bonsall on the edge of the Peak District
I work in all areas of mixed media, paint , collage, pastels, and textiles. A new collection of mixed media artwork will be put together for 2023 - I work on a selection of around eight pieces to take along to exhibitons and events.
My textile work has been exhibited with a stitch group called untangled threads as part of a stitching collective based in Scarborough. A new exhibition is planned for this year incorporating a collective piece called 'Secrets'. Presently I am contributing to a 'DNA' stitch project headed by Helen Birmingham of untangled threads https://www.untangledthreads.co.uk
My textiles gear towards portraits, birds and religious and spiritual icons - I like both organic and more formal stitching. This autumn will be a busy period for restocking and working hard as many pieces flew to new homes and stitching new ones takes a little time. Watch out for a new ranges of stitched pieces for 2023.
SKETCHING to aid both my stitching and mixed media artwork
A sketchbook is a must for me. Once I have captured an object, I study its shape, size and form, orchestrating my thought patterns to give me a visual picture, and provides a way of constructing a new composition to work with. I really enjoy the spontaneity of this process: building the picture up using the elements of collage, paint, mark-making and drawing.
