2024 Journalling your life with Art

Updated: Jan 9

So as we begin documenting for 2024, it is an individual choice of how we approach it; we all want different things from our art and documenting, that's for sure.

2024 Life Documented we are looking at techniques for the prompts each month. We are away from the starting block with January with Claire Ann, who likes to include photographs of her life to record events throughout the year. Her technique for January is collage with scraps. Take a look on FaceBook - Life Documented 2024, and if you are inspired to join in you are very welcome. Documenting for me means, showing up every day and doing some form of art or stitching everyday of my life, a personal choice, which is so therapeutic and builds up a spontanaeity in creativity. I dont spend forever deciding what I am going to do, I have moved into 'just doing' and using whats to hand or to mind and spontaneously coming up with a page which complements the documenting. There are times throughout the year when I may falter due to other demands on my time but I always catch up, which means some pages are very quick pages whilst others have more time alloted to them - thats just how it goes. For those that just document and art with no other art or stitch committments, they quite oftern put a tremendous amount of time and effort into their pieces of art. All great it is a matter of choice, I love to s

hare, and to view others work, it is so inspiring. Happy New Documenting 2024

WOW 2020 was a Big Journal

Just completing 2020 Journal to find its present cover is not big enough to hold all of those pages - Journals always grow as the year goes on. In this journal I did extra tuck spots between the pages for holding tickets and important memory bits that I dont like to throw away - a forever reminder of those events or days. So today and tomorrow I am working on some new covers, I have decided to use some old pieces of art - why not; always good to find a use for them. The Covers are going to be carved out of an old monopoly board - these boards are so thick and strong; I will be using Kath Kidston fabrics (which I buy as oddments) to pull the cover together. The binding panels were stitched on a couple of weeks ago when I realised that what I was using just wasnt going to work - I will show you these later. I am going to embellish them with some dangles and bits, always nice to use things up and this is a great opportunity. dont you just love that quote in the third picture:

'Hearts that beat to the tune of kindness can change the rhythm of the world' beautiful...

will have to use that one again in 2021 as it still stands to pull those heartstrings...

I have put together my 2021 Journal so I will show you that later.....an upcyle from a 1937 childrens classic book....and I have just completed weeks one...whoop whoop....must keep up to date and not get behind....I will be back later to show you where I have got to......
